Famous participants included William Henry Harrison and the Shawnee chief, Tecumseh. Tecumseh had refused to sign the Treaty of GreeneVille in 1795. After his death during the Battle of the Thames, the native confederacy he had formed over the years dissolved and as a result increased the settlement of the Northwest Frontier in the years that followed.
