This iconic foot bridge is located in the Greenville City Park and is used to cross the Greenville Creek. It was constructed in 1942 by Greenville businessman and philanthropist Fred Coppock [1878-1972]. As a suspension type bridge with a unique concrete decking system the bridge moves when people walk or run across it, hence the name “swinging bridge”.
