Washington's Generals Lecture Series presents "The Bookseller General: Henry Knox, Washington’s Artillery Master." Free Washington’s Generals Lecture Series on November 14, 2026
Join us on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 2 PM at the Garst Museum for Cait Clark’s Washington's Generals Lecture Series.
Henry Knox sold books in Boston and taught himself artillery from the volumes on his shelves. He courted his wife across his shop counter, married her over her Loyalist family’s objections, and fought the Revolution missing two fingers. Then, he dragged 60 tons of cannon over 300 miles of winter wilderness and drove the British out of Boston. Join Cait Clark for the November installment of our “Washington’s Generals” series. We’ll follow Henry Knox from his bookshop to Fort Ticonderoga, the icy Delaware, Yorktown, and his desk as the first Secretary of War.
The Washington’s Generals Speaker Series is free. Regular museum admission applies to those who wish to tour the museum.
